Since Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer met in Beyer’s record shop Plattentasche, in their hometown of Karlsruhe back in 2001, the music they make together as Âme has been singular expression of their shared loves. Fifteen years on, there’s little that Âme hasn’t accomplished, but 2018 reveals Wiedemann and Beyer’s finest achievement yet, a full-length debut album, Dream House. Three years in the making, Dream House reveals their meticulous craftsmanship via an evocative home listening journey enacted after a decade spent crafting dancefloor weapons. Dream House finds the duo working with a wide array of artists, from Matthew Herbert and Planningtorock, to newcomer Jens Kuross, the iconic Gudrun Gut, guitarist David Lemaitre and German electronic music legend, Hans-Joachim Roedelius. From vocal tracks to captivating instrumentals, contemplative ambience to rhythmic ebullience, Âme show off their entire arsenal on their first album.

The cave and the night are mysterious elements, paths that lead us into other states of consciousness.
Florian Auer, Nobelhart & Schmutzig, MCM Berlin, Haeberlein & Mauerer AG, Lobe Block
A special gathering for the friends, family and collaborators of Âme who helped bring Dream House to life. Hosted at the newly renovated Lobe-Block project and catered by Michelin-starred restaurant Nobelhart & Schmutzig, the dinner was a feast for all senses, with artworks and light concepts created by Florian Auer, and a drone composition by Âme that bubbled from beneath the guests’ tables.

Dream House’s striking cover artwork was visualised in digital form as a video animation of abstract floating letters, fuschia flashes and moving art. Created by Robin Hohn and edited by Ta-Trung, the animations became an indelible part of the Berlin landscape for a brief moment in time, with unannounced projections on walls and structures around the city. Captured on film by Ede Müller.
Torture the Artist: 'Dream House' now comes in with remixes from Solomun, Marcel Dettmann, RY X, Rampa, Mano Le Tough, Roman Flügel and Fango. To what extend does 'Dream House' now get the club coat you intentionally did not come up with in the first place or with reference to La Monte Young, are the remixes an approach on how to maximize the 'Dream House' experience?
KR: I don’t know about that. The remixes are the remixes, we were sometimes surprised by the choices, that which artist chose what track and what he eventually did with it, but we’re very happy with the results. A Blind Eye take would have been interesting, but although some really liked the song, it seems nobody dared to touch it.
FW: I believe a ‘Dream House’ experience is for everybody different. You feel what you feel. If we’ve managed to evoke feelings, with the album or the remixes, then we’ve achieved our mission.

The evocative home listening journey presented in Âme's debut album "Dream House" has now been transformed into a range of indispensable dance floor remixes, reminiscent of the dance weapons crafted by Âme over the last decade. From darker interpretations by Marcel Dettmann to a more tropical and chord driven take by Rampa, seven friends show their perspective and freedom through 10 tracks that were released in three waves in August 2019.
